Space Friendly Design

One of the strongest aspects of the 411 is that it is only under 54′′ tall, which renders it only 30′′ shorter than the traditional elliptical machine.

This is ideal for those who have a small exercise room or need to suit several fitness devices.

The mid-level Schwinn 430, also very lightweight, is about 70′′ long for the reference frame.

Lots of fitness services

You have a good range of fitness plans on the Schwinn 411, from sprint exercises, challenges, precise heart rate, and manual workouts, so there is a lot of variety for you.

It is good to have a variety of training opportunities installed on the entry level machine.

Tracking Heart Rate

Interestingly, the 411 comes with Bluetooth capability for fitness monitoring and wireless heart rate, although the 430 mid-level does not.

We are not exactly why it is, but it is a nice feature to have, and one that is not usually seen on ellipticals at this price range.

You can keep track of your exercise success, share your results with family and friends through RunSocial, and monitor your heart rate more specifically when you are exercising.

Others Fantastic Features

The Schwinn 411 elliptical comes with 16 degrees of resistance to select from, articulating foot covers, set and rotating handlebars, water bottle holders and travel wheels for simple versatility.

Construction of frame

The Schwinn 411 has a rather lightweight build with a minimal footprint similar to the other elliptical cross trainers on the front. For the frame fully mounted, it is just approx. 54′′ (137 cm) long and 61 cm (24′′) broad. However, Schwinn suggests that the field of use should be reserved with a clearance of at least 24′′ (61 cm) all around the device.

Needless to mention, the metallic structure of this Schwinn elliptical cross trainer is constructed of steel cylinders. It is long enough to accommodate users up to 300 lbs (136 kg) which is not terrible for a machine intended for home use. Both steel pieces are covered with a corrosion-resistant paint finish; the material used is black, with the exception of the crank arms painted red. These are the only colors allowed on this unit.

The Schwinn 411 elliptical is not an incredibly large device, but weights roughly. One hundred lbs (45.4 kg). That is more than enough to guarantee outstanding stability. Plus, both the front and rear base bars are fitted with wide adjustable stabilizers.

The machine has no folding design. It does, though, have a set of travel wheels mounted to the front base bar, which allows it easy to pass.

This Schwinn elliptical features two collection of handlebars, one mobile, one fixed. The mobile handlebars have long, upward handles with rounded grips on the end. They attach to the console mast and pedals, so they stay going as long as you are pedaling. They do not shift apart from the pedals.

The set handlebars are welded directly to the front mast of the unit. They are curved to the consumer. They sport rubberized grips much like mobile bars, but also incorporate pulse sensors.

Elliptical route, move and step-up height

For starts, the Schwinn 411 includes a collection of wide pedals constructed of robust ABS content and placed on heavy-duty steel bars. They may not have extra articulation or adjustable features, but have non-slip rubber inserts that add further cushioning. The pedal bars are fitted with industrial-grade rollers with integrated sealed ball bearings for smooth rail travel.

The elliptical direction of the unit is horizontal. It offers a normal movement without the sensation of moving up or down. Also, a significant point that we need to note here is that the unit does not have an incline system. The angle of the elliptical path cannot however be modified.

Light weight

Despite its lightweight design, the Schwinn 411 provides a long neck. It measures 18 cm, which is very remarkable for a device of this scale. Other equivalent machines give a stroke of just 13-16 inches. That said, the unit can have a satisfactory range of motion for users up to 6’0′′ (183 cm). Of course, taller people may also use this machine, although they can find it a little restricting.

The step-up pedal height for this trainer is roughly. “9′′ (23 cm). Even, in their maximum point, the pedals hit roughly. 17′′ (43 cm) above ground level. It is also advised that the machine be used in a space with a ceiling that is at least 20-22 inches (51-56 cm) higher than your own height.

Electrical system of the device

The Schwinn 411 elliptical cross trainer is fitted with a motorized magnetic resistance system. This implies that the resistance can only be controlled from the console, and the machine must be attached to the power supply. A cable power adapter is supplied with the device.

The resistance mechanism comprises of a magnetic brake and a servo drive. When you choose a certain amount of resistance from the console, the servo motor changes the position of the brake in relation to the internal flywheel, which results in more or less pedaling difficulties.

Resistance provided

This elliptical trainer makes 16 degrees of resistance available. The first few stages offer a light pedaling stress, perfect for users who have sustained accidents, or for anybody who wants to do light workouts. Conversely, the 16th standard helps you to concentrate mainly on your leg muscles and reach a high aerobic intensity in a relatively limited period.

The weight of the inner flywheel is not defined. However, it is perimeter-weighted. This brings stability to the pedaling action and a more consistent impetus.

Like several other exercise devices with eddy current resistance systems, the Schwinn 411 has a belt drivetrain. It uses a heavy-duty, polygroove belt that delivers very smooth, vibration-free motion. Unlike a chain drive, it does not need lubrication. It also enables reverse pedaling. You should then switch between regular and reverse sessions to diversify the exercises.

This Schwinn elliptical trainer features a mid-range console with a 5.5′′ LCD monitor separated into several subsections to display all the exercise measurements at once. It monitors time, distance, pace, RPM, calories, pulse. It provides both imperial and metric display units for pace and distance.

It is also telemetric; this means you can monitor the pulse rate with a Bluetooth HR chest strap transmitter. This accessory is not included, however if you do not opt for one, you can still detect your pulse through the sensors built into the control unit.

The console has 13 fitness programs available. The Manual and Interval programs have their own keypad buttons; the majority of the programs are preset and accessible under the Challenge button.

The Manual Software allows you the ability to exercise freely, changing the resistance you need during your workout.

The Interval program is set to 30/90. The “Sprint” period is 30 seconds, while the “Rest” interval is 90 seconds. Its default length is set to 12 min. which can be extended by 12 minutes.

The Challenge Programs are 11 in size, 10 are preset and 1 is for Heart Rate Management. The 10 preset programs are Rolling Hills, Park Trip, Quick Tour, Pike’s Peak, Pyramids, Summit Pass, Stream Crossing, and Mount Hood. For each of them, you can choose an aim for time, distance, and calories.

The Heart Rate software is programmed to help you maintain the heart rate at any stage. The preset level is 125 BPM, but it can be changed. For the length of this program, the machine changes the resistance to hold your heart rate close to the chosen base value.

The console has a Bluetooth link. It will also interact with a number of exercise applications. You can also sync it with RunSocial, a mixed-reality software that provides immersive trails focused on different places in the worlds. It offers you the chance to run across 19 places with 27 usable paths.

This will make the training process a lot more fun. Of course, RunSocial and other applications which include a separate paying subscription that is not included in the elliptical.

Third but not least, the console is fitted with a tablet holder. This accessory is positioned under the main display; it is wide enough to fit every tablet.

Assembly of the machine

The key vertical body of the machine is pre-assembled, while the base structure is still in one piece. As a consequence, for the installation, the flexible stabilizers must be fixed to the base frame, the main body must be linked to the base frame, the console mast, the rotating arms, the pedals, and the console must be mounted. It might take longer than an hour.

The manual, however, contains very simple schematics and assembly directions, so the method should be far from complicated. All the required equipment for assembly are also provided.

For cleaning, it is advised that the rails of the base frame be lubricate to ensure a smooth and silent trip on the pedal rollers. Other than this, the device should be held clean and reviewed regularly for loose bolts and pieces.

How does the Schwinn 411 equate to the rest of the Ellipticals Company?

As we described above, the Schwinn 411 has a number of good features from the other versions, making it a good entry-level option. However, certain items are lacking that do not make it the perfect option for you.

Taking a peek at the three Schwinn ellipticals to give you a clearer understanding of what each one has to do.

Schwinn’s 411

Repeating from above, you have an 18″ phase, 16 intensity ranges, 13 fitness programs, grip and wireless heart rate, and Bluetooth workout monitoring.

Schwinn’s 430

The mid-level 430 is a bigger unit with a longer 20″ stroke, 20 strength ranges, 22 exercise plans, just grip core and no workout monitoring.

You can also get a more advanced console, 10 degrees of manual inline functionality, a 3-speed fan, a sound machine, and a USB adapter.

Schwinn’s 470

The top of the line model builds on the 430 with 25 strength ranges, 29 exercise programs, grip and wireless heart rate, Bluetooth exercise monitoring and 10 degree speed incline.

You also have up to 4 user accounts, similar to 2 on the 430 and one on the Schwinn 411 elliptical.

So, as you can see, the Schwinn 411 is probably more of an entry-level elliptical trainer than the others, more tailored to the usage of light for beginners.

The machine weighs just 100 lbs, relative to more than 160 lbs. That is like the 430 and 470.
